Abstract
The
purposes of this study were to construct the programmed instruction to develop
English reading skill of mathayomsuksa 3 students in bannongmaetaeng (Thammasat-Asa) School, Saingam
District, Kamphaengphet
Province , to measure the
programmed instruction’s efficiency, to compare English reading skill
achievement of Matthayomsuksa 3 students by using pre- and post-tests, and to
survey students’ preferences of learning for programmed instruction.
The
samples of this study were 53 mathayomsuksa 3 students in bannongmaetaeng (Thammasat-Asa) School, Saingam
District, Kamphaengphet
Province, Semester 2
Academic Year 2006. The instrument used in the study was a programmed
instruction which consists of 5 lessons and an efficiency test.
The
5 ways to produce the programmed instruction were: to study the background of
the learners, to study description of the course, to set the content, and to
produce the content, and to tryout the objective test. The efficiency test was
the 30 items, multiple-choiced test with 4 choices. The specialists’ views of
the programmed instruction quality are at good level.
The
data were collected from the pre-test and post-test which were given before and
after fishing 5 lessons. Then, the pre-test and post-test scores were compared
to examine the difference using t-dependent style. The efficiency of the
lessons was acquired in percentage by using the students’ scores.
The
result of the of the development of the programmed instruction in developing
English reading skill of Mathayomsuksa 3 students in bannongmaetaeng (Thammasat-Asa) School, Saingam
District, Kamphaengphet Province, was that the efficiency of the programmed
instruction was at good level at 80.64/84.77.
The
differences between pre-testing and post-testing scores by using t-test
dependent were also observed. The student pre-testing efficiency mean was 13.42
(SD
2.60) whereas
the mean of the post-test was 25.32 (SD 1.63). These differences had the statistical
significant level at .05. This result showed that the programmed instruction
had a positive effect on students’ reading achievement.
Also,
the students’ attitudes towards the programmed instruction were found to be at
high level.
Title : THE ANALYSIS OF LOVE

Abstract
This
study explored love metaphors in Mariah Carey’s songs. The purposes of the
study were as follows :
1. To
categorize the love metaphors.
2. To
study and analyze love metaphors in the songs.
3. To
study the social and cultural reflection in the songs.
The subjects of this study were 30 Mariah
Carey’s songs from top 1000 lyrics in
www.lyrics-songs.com/top-lyrics.pnd
from January 2006 – June
2006
This
research revealed that theory of conceptual metaphor (Lakoff, 1987,1993; Lakoff
& Johnson, 1980, Lakoff & Turner, 1989) helped explain the correspondence
between a domain of love experience and
another domain of experience. Love metaphors allowed us to comprehend love in
terms of a more clearly delineated
concept. In this study it was found that the songwriters conceptualized ‘love’
into 11 metaphorical categories in which there were altogether 74 love
metaphors. Metaphors as nature and as body were found most often at the level
of 28.38 % each whereas a metaphor as magic was found the least often at the level of 1.35 %
In
conclusion concrete metaphors were found more frequently than abstract
metaphors at the levels of 82.44 % and 17.56 % respectively.
